In respect of the traditional custodians of this land, the Tasmanian aboriginal community, I wish to acknowledge those traditional custodians that we are here standing on today.

正 如 秘 書 長 ── 最 尊 貴 的 阿 努 如 來 達 摩 今 早 對 我 們 開 示 ， 這 是 首 次 在 西 方 國 家 舉 行 世 界 佛 教 青 年 僧 伽 會 ， 而 且 是 在 塔 州 。 因 為 塔 州 是 一 個 極 為 美 麗 、 極 為 平 靜 的 地 方 ， 我 相 信 ， 內 心 和 平 的 人 們 在 這 裡 共 聚 一 堂 ， 一 起 為 大 眾 服 務 是 最 為 恰 當 的 。

As the Secretary General, the Most Venerable Mugunuwela Anuruddha Thero has told us this morning, this is the first time the World Buddhist Sangha Youth conference has been held here in a western country, and here in the state of Tasmania. I believe that it is most fitting that this gathering of peace-minded people is to help here in Tasmania, because Tasmania is a place of great beauty and great tranquillity.

由 於 您 們 在 此 代 表 很 多 不 同 的 國 家 ， 這 次 大 會 提 名 為 〝 佛 教 超 越 界 限 〞 ， 是 非 常 恰 當 的 。

Given that you are here representing so many different countries, it is very appropriate that this year’s conference is entitled Buddhism Beyond Boundaries.

而 此 次 大 會 的 主 題 ── 〝 團 結 、 和 諧 與 發 展 〞 ── 正 和 塔 州 政 府 的 遠 見 密 切 相 連 。

And the theme of this event - unity, harmony and development - aligns closely with the vision of the Tasmanian Government.

Our premier David Bartlett has recently reiterated our commitment to social inclusion as critical to the creation of a Tasmania that is clever, kind and connected.

In a connected Tasmania, people are linked to others through family, through friends, work or personal interests. They do not feel isolated or alone, and they have the opportunity to participate in their communities.

In a clever Tasmania, we can all work to tackle challenges in an innovative way.

無 論 出 生 國 家 、 何 種 語 言 、 何 種 文 化 或 宗 教 信 仰 ， 所 有 塔 州 人 都 共 同 分 享 著 同 一 個 強 烈 願 望 ： 健 康 及 幸 福 、 獲 得 能 負 擔 而 平 等 的 政 府 服 務 和 受 到 社 會 的 接 納 ， 以 及 投 入 社 會 。

Regardless of country of birth, language, culture or religion, all Tasmanians share common aspirations for good health and wellbeing, for equitable access to affordable government services, and for societal acceptance, and participation in the community.

The Tasmanian Government is working with community and business to help remove the boundaries that prevent Tasmanians from connecting with and contributing to their communities. And so, through events such as this very auspicious conference held here in Hobart, unity, community connectedness, tolerance, and lasting friendships are encouraged and developed.

In these turbulent times, it hard for me to see so many passionate individuals come together to march, come together to spread the important message of peace, harmony and goodwill.

Thank Master Wang again for giving me the honour and privilege to address you today. It is with great pride that we have you here in Tasmania to hold this World Buddhist Sangha Youth Conference, and it’s also with great pride that we have one of your most Holy Master Wang residing with the Holy Tantra Buddhism community here in Tasmania.
